// Book Description//
 "Growing old has been the greatest surprise of my life,” says Billy Graham, known by many as God’s Ambassador. “I would have never guessed what God had in store for me, and I know that as I am nearing home, He will not forsake me the last mile of the way.”
In Nearing Home this man of faith—now in his nineties—explores the challenges of aging while gleaning foundational truths from Scripture. Billy Graham invites us to journey with him as he considers the golden years while anticipating the hope of being reunited with his wife, Ruth, in his heavenly home that eclipses this world. “When granted many years of life, growing old in age is natural, but growing old with grace is a choice,” says the author. “Growing older with grace is possible for all who will set their hearts and minds on the Giver of grace, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Join Billy Graham as he shares the challenges of fading strength but still standing strong in his commitment to finishing life well.

// Bethany's Review //
Billy Graham is such a great man of faith, and though this is the first of his books that I've had the pleasure of reading, it probably won't be the last. Nearing Home was full of wonderful advice, thought provoking insights and encouragement to open eyes to the fact that nobody lives forever, so you might as well make the days you have left count for God's glory!

This book is written by Billy Graham, who at the time was, and still is-in his 90's was written as a way to encourage elderly people who are coming close to the end of their life, and covers several topics from Heaven, to family relationships as well as accepting hardships that come with old age such as loss of vision, difficulty moving around, etc. While it is certainly written by, and for the "older generation" I greatly benefited from reading this book, even though I've yet to meet 20 years of age. The things that Billy goes through in the book are really things that can apply in everyone life-no matter how you the reader is-and strives to encourage readers to make the most of the time they have left and grow close to the Lord and family and to bless others with your life before meeting Christ in Heaven.

This book is almost 200 pages, so for me it was a quick two day read. But don't let it's smaller size make you think it isn't time worthy because compared to the size, this book holds much wisdom that exceeds the size of the book.

Overall I'd highly recommend Billy's newest book to anyone, and while it's primarily geared to elderly people, I learned a lot and it made me think about things I'd never thought about older people, and gave me a stronger respect for the elderly. It covered everything you'd want to see in a book for elderly and is very inspiration and gets you thinking!

Note: I'd like to thank Thomas Nelson Publishers for providing me with a commentary review copy of Nearing Home to read and review on my blog. I received a free copy to review, and was not paid to do so. I was asked to give an honest review of this book, which I have done and all thoughts are completely my own and unbiased.

Billy Graham is such a remarkable man, and God has used him in ways that very few have the opportunity to experience. If you haven't read his biography Just As I Am then I encourage you to do so. I have grown up listening to Graham's sermons and reading his books, and his story has made such a huge impact on me. This man is, in my opinion, is a modern day prophet. God has used his sermons and crusades to bring millions to Jesus. If you are thinking of reading or purchasing anything by Billy, you won't regret it. Even if you think the discussion topic doesn't apply to you or your circumstances, he always puts something in his books that makes them beneficial to anyone who takes the time to read them.

This book, was about Billy's journey through accepting old age and all that comes along with it with grace, patience and faith. Though I don't have to worry about this certain trial for quite some time, I still found great encouragement in Graham's words. There are little bits and pieces that anyone, young or old could apply to their lives. I wish more people of my generation would turn to people like Billy Graham; people who have already traveled the road that we are on. Adults used to be treated with respect, and were often looked to when they were in need of wisdom. Now our elderly are often cast aside, told that they are senile and disregarded because people think they are talking just to talk. The way I see people treating their elders nowadays makes my blood boil. They obviously know something about life that we don't. Anyway, this book is a great book for anyone to read. It is pretty short, I read it in a couple of hours. I love the way the author got his points across. The way he made a point by telling  stories reminds me of how Jesus used to teach in parables, and everything that he says has scripture to back it up. I highly recommend Nearing Home to anyone and everyone.
